Research Biostatistician

Overview: The Research Biostatistician participates in the design and analysis of research studies related to board certification in and the specialty of Emergency Medicine (EM). This includes, but is not limited to, study design, data management and analysis, the production of scientific presentations and reports, and manuscript writing and submission. The position will collaborate with staff, clinical investigators, and physician leaders to manage project requirements.

ABEM is seeking a candidate who has experience designing and analyzing research studies. Someone who is an initiative-taker who finds fulfillment in study design, data management, the processes and production of scientific presentations, reports, and manuscript writing. An understanding of the health care industry and a background in project management to help the candidate be successful in their collaboration with staff, clinical investigators, and physician leaders.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking, as well as robust organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to collaborate with multiple stakeholders across a variety of departments and external organizations.
  • Degree and experience in biostatistics, public health, or statistics.
    • Master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience   OR
    • Ph.D. with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with statistical methods, applications, and programming in data processing software commonly used in the health sciences, (e.g., SAS, Stata, and/or R) is a requirement.
  • Experience with advanced statistical methods including multivariate analyses, factor analysis, HLM, and SEM.
  • Experience extracting, managing, and analyzing large data sets (e.g., medical claims data) preferred.
  • Experience with manuscript preparation and submission for peer-review publications.
  • Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time (five weeks or less per year).

Hours:  Full-time; Monday through Friday with flexibility in schedule. Can work remotely with onsite work required for the training period and for quarterly meetings.
