Overview
The Center for Clinical Management Research (CCMR) at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support Dr. Tanner Caverly’s research projects.
Primary Responsibilities: This position will support and contribute to a multidisciplinary health services research team led by Dr. Tanner Caverly. The projects use both qualitative and quantitative methods to study various cancer screening and cardiovascular care guideline development and the implementation of personalized decision support tools. Primarily, the candidate will assist with recruitment, enrollment, and follow-up of study participants, distribution of participant surveys, and assist in the creation of various study materials. The position may also require use of health and medical information, including electronic medical records, to recruit potentially eligible patients. Applicants must be comfortable regularly communicating with patients and providers both in the clinic (in-person) and over the phone. The role may include assisting with data collection, entry, and file maintenance.
Desired skills: Applicants should be customer service minded, detail-oriented, a self-starter, able to work productively with others in a cooperative team environment and have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with focus on oral and written communication and critical thinking. A successful candidate will be able to multi-task, work independently, maintain orderly records, and seek guidance, as needed. Previous experience conducting surveys or interviews and working with electronic medical records is also desirable.
Qualifications: Must be a US citizen. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required; Psychology, Public Health, or Social Work preferred. Comparable work experience may be considered. Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
Position: Research Assistant, Center for Clinical Management Research, Health Services Research & Development, VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Full-time, GS-7 position, full benefits included. The typical schedule is Monday- Friday, 8-hour shifts, however, the ability to flex schedule to accommodate patient needs (i.e., conduct enrollments or follow-ups in the evenings or weekends) may be required based on study needs. This position is for 1 year, with the option to extend. Most work is currently being conducted remotely via telework, but brief periods in the office or in the clinic at the LTC Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center may be required based on study needs. Start date: immediately.
