THE JOB:

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) shall have overall responsibility of:

Programmatic, budgetary and personnel elements of the Communicable Disease Unit, the Local Health Department Infection Prevention (LHD IP);
Supervise staff in the Communicable Disease Unit and act for the Director of Nursing in their absence.

 

The ADON shall serve as a liaison to Public Health Administration on behalf of the Communicable Disease Unit for the purposes of advanced and strategic planning.

The ADON shall work with the Director of Nursing to:
Nurture and promote the profession of public health nursing; the role of public health in improving population health and the move towards a Public Health 3.0 framework.
THE REQUIREMENTS:

Three years of professional nursing experience in a public health setting, including at least two years of supervisory and/or management experience. A masters degree in public health, Nursing, Health Administration or other related field is desirable.

Special Requirements: Possession of a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California. Possession of a valid Public Health Nursing certificate issued by the State of California. Possession of a valid CPR certificate. Possession of a valid California Class C driver license or the ability to provide suitable transportation which is approved by the appointing authority. Fingerprinting is required.
