Exercise Science, Assistant Professor (two open positions). Elon University invites applications for two full-time (9-month) tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Exercise Science, beginning mid-August, 2023. Completion of a PhD in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a closely related field before August 2023 is preferred. This position requires someone who brings an interdisciplinary perspective to exercise science, who can demonstrate significant and sustained teaching related to exercise science, whose research agenda can be translated to the undergraduate setting and expands on the department’s current expertise. To expand our department’s scholarly and mentoring reach, candidates who bring expertise in community interventions across ages and stages including special and/or diverse populations, skeletal muscle health and cognitive function, female physiology, exercise biostatistics, microbiome and gut health, nutrition and diet with regards to improving health, physical performance and resilience; and/or sports psychology are strongly encouraged to apply. Teaching will include courses in the Exercise Science program (e.g., sport and exercise psychology, exercise physiology, neuromotor control, biomechanics), and may extend into courses in Elon Core Curriculum (e.g., COR 1100: The global experience) or related interdisciplinary programs (e.g., neuroscience, engineering, public health studies, food studies, women and gender studies). The Exercise Science Department is one of the largest departments in the College of Arts and Sciences with over 220 majors. Faculty are actively engaged in mentoring undergraduate research in a variety of areas including: multidisciplinary concussion research; dance biomechanics; performance enhancement; energy metabolism and body composition; cardiometabolic health; and neuromotor control and learning in special populations to name a few.
