Job Responsibilities:

Under broad supervision, directs, plans, develops, implements, and manages the Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma. Has ultimate oversight of Systems of Care programs (Trauma, Cardiac, Stroke, EMS for Children) and EMS Data programs, and assures coordination with the ten Regional EMS Offices. Develops program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures to accomplish the mission of the Department of Public Health. Directs the work of assigned managerial, supervisory, professional, technical, and clerical staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of management/supervisory experience in health care services
OR
Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of management/supervisory experience in health care services
OR
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Eight years of management/supervisory experience in health care services.

Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

Note: A combination of education and experience at agency discretion.
Ten years of related professional experience AND Six years managing at the level equivalent to area of assignment

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who possess one or more of the following:

  • Active licensed medic with field experience
  • Knowledge of National EMS Standards:

*NEMSIS data standard
*EMS Education Standards
*EMS Scope of Practice

  • Experience with data analysis and reporting
  • Management experience in a high volume, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the Georgia EMS System including:

*EMS Laws, Rules and Regulations
*EMS Educational System
*EMS Licensing process
*EMS Compliance
*EMS Scope of Practice

  • Knowledge of the Georgia legislative process
  • Experience in writing and enforcing EMS Rules and Regulations as well as EMS Policies
