Make your mark in public service. As an accredited public health department, we’re seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Laboratory Administrative Clerk to join the Division of Medical/Clinical Services, Public Health Laboratory located in Decatur, GA.

This position is assigned to the Reports and Records Department at the Decatur Laboratory and works independently to support to all laboratory operations. Under broad supervision, performs a variety of general secretarial, clerical, and administrative support functions/processes or a few specialized or essential clerical functions in support of a unit or office and related personnel. May enter data and/or process documents and records. The work includes operating standard office equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

The employee will develop relationships with submitters to provide a high level of customer service for a variety of request, including:

  • Resolution of problem specimens
  • Questions regarding reports
  • The creation of accounts for new submitters
  • Data entry verification
  • Filing requisitions
  • Prepping reports for mailing to submitters

This position provides support to the laboratory and Accessioning for Data Entry and Customer Service.

During times of turnover, absences and high-volume testing, this position will perform:

  • Data Entry for Newborn Screening, Bacteriology and STD testing.
  • Cover lunch, meetings and absences for the reception desk.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position is encouraged to be an ambassador and represent Support Services and the laboratory in the DPH Wellness program.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED AND Four years of progressively difficult office or administrative experience.
