Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications
At least three years of work experience in one or more of the following: drug user health, opioid use or substance use disorders, harm reduction, medication opioid use disorder, public health program management, evaluation of policies and interventions relating to drug user health. At least one year of experience in public health program management; at least one year of experience working with government agencies, community groups and other stakeholders as necessary. At least one year of experience developing and operationalizing performance and outcome measures. At least one year of experience preparing and/or writing reports to document program progress.

The Health Program Coordinator I will be located in the AIDS Institute Office of Drug User Health (ODUH) and will perform duties related to the overdose prevention and response. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as liaison with contractors to identify law enforcement, emergency department providers, treatment providers, drug task force members, community members and other key stakeholders who will play an integral role in expanding buprenorphine, naloxone and fentanyl test strips access in various settings including emergency departments and county jails. The incumbent will manage assigned contracts with contractor to address the opioid, stimulant and drug overdose epidemic through various strategies; coordinate program planning, design and implementation in collaboration with local health departments, providers, consumers, advisory bodies and representatives of the populations to be served, and in conjunction with other units and agencies; conduct program evaluation and continued quality improvement to assess and improve outcomes; represent the ODUH team; contribute toward outreach activities with other internal and external partners on overdose prevention. The incumbent will perform other appropriate related duties.
