Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

 

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in data analytics or related field and at least one year of experience in applied data analysis in a healthcare setting. Experience with analyzing large Medicaid data sets preferably for pharmacy claims associated with opioid prescriptions and treatment of opioid use disorder. Proficiency in preparing external reports, data extracts, and performing quality assurance and/or testing activities. Intermediate or advanced proficiency using SAS, R, or other statistical software packages.

 

Responsibilities

The Program Research Specialist III will be located within the Bureau of Informatics and Technology in the Center for Health Data Innovation in the Office of Quality and Patient Safety (OQPS). The Program Research Specialist III will contribute to the deliverables outlined in the HEALing Communities Study, including leading data analyses, developing claims/enrollment/payment data extracts for grant partners, ensuring de-identification, and complying with privacy standards, and developing and monitoring quality assurance activities. The HEALING Communities Study examines opioid prescription, prevention of, misuse and abuse, overdose response, and treatment of opioid use disorders.

 

Specific duties will include: lead data analyses, develop and update, as needed, requirements from internal and external stakeholders for on-demand data extracts to grant partners, develop dashboards and visualizations to inform internal stakeholders, and participate in grant management activities and reporting. Other appropriate related duties as assigned.
