Overview

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or a related field and one year of experience in a public health, human services or health related program/organization; OR an Associate’s degree and three years of such experience; OR five years of related experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.

 

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing assistance with policy and/or program planning and/or development, and/or implementation activities. Experience working with stakeholders. Experience developing reports and other written documents. Experience preparing and conducting presentations.

Responsibilities
The Public Health Specialist II will provide support for program activities as they relate to the AIDS Institute’s work around new or emerging health concerns which fall under the purview of the Institute. The incumbent will prepare and gather feedback on reports, presentations, and program documents; compile maintain organization of key decisions and activities related to AIDS Institute programs; create and utilize tools based on program needs in order to track program benchmarks and progress; correspond with internal and external partners on program and operational progress; assist program staff in identification and troubleshooting of roadblocks within specific projects in a timely manner; and perform other appropriate related duties.

 

This position is supported by the New York State Public Health Corps Fellowship Program.

 

Successful completion of the Public Health Essentials certificate program will be required.
