Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and six years of experience in the direction and/or management of a public health program, health/human services program, health regulatory program or community-based services program/organization; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and eight years of such experience; OR ten years of such experience. The years of experience must have included policy formulation, program planning, design, implementation, evaluation and/or allocation of resources. At least four years of experience must have included supervision of staff and program management. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

 

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in public health, policy, public or health systems administration, a related social science or another closely related field. Experience leading complex change processes with a large team of staff. Experience working in a chronic disease public health program or a closely related program. Experience with strategic planning, chronic disease program development, program implementation, performance monitoring and evaluation. Development and implementation of fiscal policy and procedures; experience overseeing contract management functions, overseeing grants development and administration, staff supervision and development. Experience using a grants management system; experience managing budgets.

Responsibilities
The Assistant Bureau Director, Community Chronic Disease Prevention will assist in directing programs and staff in the Bureau with regard to program policy, procedures, and programmatic functions. The incumbent will assist in directing and leading grant, contract, administrative and resource management for the Bureau, ensuring that grant deliverables are met and conform to HRI and Department policies, practices, rules and regulations. The incumbent will develop and assist in directing the development of Bureau strategic and program planning and goal setting; assist in directing and overseeing bureau communications, support and administrative functions. The incumbent will also represent the Bureau to other units in the Division and the Department as well as external agencies and organizations.
