Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Statistics or a related field; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and two years of experience in data quality control, data quality improvement and data collection; OR four years of experience in data quality control, data quality improvement and data collection.

 

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge or completion of coursework in biology, anatomy, and/or physiology. Familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

The Data Administrator II will support the following duties using documented processing rules: assessing data, ascertaining whether data is accurate, diagnosing and repairing basic errors, and performing entry of data into computerized records. These records are essential to the fulfillment of the New York State Cancer Registry (NYSCR)’s mandate, which is to reduce the burden of cancer among New Yorkers.

 

The NYSCR collects data for use in determining cancer rates and trends, for health policy and planning, for epidemiological research (including case-control studies), for evaluation of cancer control interventions, and to identify and target high-risk populations.

 

This position is supported by the New York State Public Health Corps Fellowship Program.

 

Successful completion of the Public Health Essentials certificate program will be required.

 

This is a grant funded position, expected to last approximately one year.
