Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience; OR six years of relevant experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. Relevant experience required must be in emergency preparedness and planning and/or response.


Travel up to 25% – 50% will be required. A valid driver’s license in good standing will be required. The incumbent(s) hired into this position must live within commuting distance to the official work location. Incumbents who relocate to NYS for this position will be required to obtain a New York State driver’s license. New York State requires new residents to obtain a license within 30 days of becoming a resident.


Occasional after-hours, nights and/or weekend hours may be required to respond to emergencies.


This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a Public Health environment. Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP). Ability to consolidate and prepare narrative and numerical information into clear, logical reports; analyze written and published program material and draw conclusions concerning its impact. Experience using computer software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.





The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Representative II will assist the Metropolitan Area Regional Office (MARO) in its response to COVID-19. The incumbent will contribute to the active COVID-19 response efforts and the subsequent efforts to enhance COVID-19 preparedness capabilities following the active response phase. The incumbent will collect and report on required information and data to support the COVID-19 response. The incumbent will assist in coordinating field response efforts to include COVID-19 testing sites, logistics operations, vaccination efforts. The incumbent will contribute toward the the revision and updating of New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) emergency response resources to support training of Metropolitan Regional NYSDOH staff on roles and responsibilities that are critical for successful COVID-19 emergency response.


Occasional after-hours, nights and/or weekend hours may be required to respond to emergencies.


This position is supported by the New York State Public Health Corps Fellowship Program.


This is a grant funded position, expected to last approximately one year.
