About Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
The Mount Sinai Institute for Health Equity Research (IHER) brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts to address the longstanding disparities in health and health care that are pervasive in our country. IHER’s mission to promote health equity has never been more critical. Our work is informed by four Core areas: health care delivery science, community engagement, data and research, and research workforce. Each Core encompasses multiple projects and initiatives led by our team of nationally renowned health equity researchers. Initiatives range from ensuring that non-English speakers have access to the very best emergency care in their native tongue, to community-driven studies to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in mental health treatment, to engaging and recruiting diverse populations for clinical trials. Our multi-pronged approach allows IHER to conduct clinical, translational, and health services science that transforms practice and policy in a comprehensive and enduring way.
