Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform theduties of Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1. Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and isresponsible for sample preparation, sample processing, reagent preparation, and instrument datafor testing on newborn screening specimens. Evaluates test results, prepares records and reportsfor laboratory results.

Job Responsibilities
Performs the setup preparation for blood spot specimens.
Provides assistance to other units.
Independently operate the punch index machine.
Collect specimens (a data collection form and a filter paper blood spot) from the receivingroom, sort specimens contained in envelopes by hospital names, remove specimens fromenvelopes and label each specimen with a unique identification number using a date stamp,and separate the data section from the blood spot portion.

Performs the operating and/or preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment, includes theliquid pipetting station which includes a controlling computer, thermostatic circulation system,multiphors, orbital rotators, and densitometers.
Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of theduties enumerated above.
