The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform theduties as Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1. Under general supervision, performs laboratory workin the Newborn Screening Lab subject to the provisions and amendments of the Illinois ClinicalLaboratory Act and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act CLIA’88.
Prepares, aliquots and analyzes specimens routinely submitted to the laboratory.
Provides assistance to other units.
Following established quality control procedures, and established recognized laboratoryprotocols, completes analysis /testing; evaluates and verifies accuracy of results.
Performs routine and preventive equipment maintenance (PM).
Participates in proficiency testing (PT), analyzes PT samples in a manner similar to routinelaboratory specimens, Reports PT results and assumes responsibility for those results.
Completes QA/QC reports and interpretation of unusual results.
Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance and either takes correctiveaction or notifies the supervisor.
