Overview
The program and policy coordinator will assist in the implementation of the Louisiana Comprehensive Cancer Control (LCP) plan state wide. The coordinator will directly assist by coordinating the Louisiana Colorectal Cancer Roundtable and facilitate efforts around policy and environmental changes for the Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition (LHCC). The coordinator will be responsible for tracking policy changes at state and local levels, and informing and educating others about evidence based policy interventions statewide for tobacco and obesity (active living, healthy eating). This position is located in New Orleans, LA. Statewide travel is necessary. A strong interest in working on the social determinants of health is preferred.
Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, or a related field and three years professional level experience organizing events, communicating with health care providers, reporting to the CDC, & coordinating diverse, community stakeholders. A Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with two years experience in public policy, advocacy, community engagement, or leading health related coalitions may substitute for the degree discipline.
