PROGRAM DIRECTOR, THE LIGHTHOUSE PROGRAM

Louisiana State University invites applications for the position of Program Director, The Lighthouse Program. Reporting to the Executive Director of the LSU Student Health Center, the Program Director leads campus interpersonal violence advocacy, support, and prevention efforts and supports compliance with federal requirements. The Program Director works closely with the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX to ensure that all university systems are working in concert to provide consistent, comprehensive, and caring survivor services and to inform effective primary prevention initiatives.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE
Serves as a key member of the Student Health Center Leadership Team and possesses a deep appreciation for integrated care model.
Ensures the design, delivery, and assessment of effective interpersonal violence support, advocacy and prevention services.
Cultivates strategic partnerships, especially in the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX, and serves on teams to address challenges, enhance the environment, and better meet the needs of survivors.

Advocate for positive change
The Director will serve as a strong advocate of survivors of interpersonal violence, working not only to comply with Title IX but to establish best practices that ensure survivors are supported throughout their experience at the university. In partnership with the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX, the Program Director will focus on prompting timely responses, bridging process gaps, and expediting outcomes.
Cultivate strategic partnerships
Preventing interpersonal violence is a community commitment. The Program Director will cultivate strategic partnerships and build trust and confidence to enhance services and target initiatives. There is an opportunity to strengthen relationships with student and university advocates, the Deputy Title IX Coordinators and Case Managers, the Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response (STAR) team, and others across campus and in the community to improve efforts.
Invest in integrated care
The Program Director will lead an integrated care team within the Student Health Center, including medical and mental health professionals and will leverage discipline diversity to provide comprehensive support to survivors. In addition, the Program Director will maintain open communication and regular coordination with the Coroner’s Office to facilitate Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services.

ABOUT THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS PRIORITIES

Direct Student Support (35%)
Facilitates delivery of direct student support services through The Lighthouse Program, providing confidential support, coordinating support services and accommodations, and assistance with navigating the reporting process for student survivors.
Leadership and Administration (30%)
Leads interpersonal violence advocacy, support and prevention services which comply with federal mandates and employ best practices. Provides administrative supervision of a team of program coordinators and team leadership for an integrated care team. Recruits, trains, motivates, and advises Lighthouse Advocates who also provide direct student support services. Manages related communication by developing educational and marketing content for social media platforms and the departmental website.
Title IX Partnership (20%)
Consults and collaborates on strategic initiatives with the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX. Leads advocacy efforts, informs educational initiatives, and communicate the needs of survivors of interpersonal violence to university leadership.
Financial Management, Quality Control & Compliance (10%)
Manages of a budget totaling approximately $200,000. Creates and updates policies and procedures that support establishment and maintenance of standards of care. Coordinates quality improvement and assessment activities for the program, employing data to direct resources and drive practices. Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates, including Title IX.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Other duties as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to, efforts that support broad divisional and institutional goals including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-in Day and Welcome Week.
Master’s degree in health education, public health, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education.
Five years of experience working in the area of interpersonal violence prevention and support.
Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervisory experience.
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH).
Expertise in young adult development and experience working with college students.
Experience working as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary health team.
Safety and security – sensitive positions are defined as those positions where any form of substance abuse may affect University activities through unsafe work behavior/performance or error in judgment; or where substance abuse could jeopardize the safety and well-being of employees, other personnel, or the general public, or cause significant damage to University property. This includes positions requiring firearms, access to controlled substances, handling hazardous material, operating heavy equipment or machinery, etc. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
This position may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.
As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
