Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science,

for the Bachelor’s in Public Health – 9-month Tenure-Track Position

 

LSU Shreveport invites applications for tenure-track position of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science for the Bachelor’s in Public Health, beginning Fall of 2023.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate degree in public health or a closely related health field combined with a MPH degree required. Preference will be given to individuals with a record of relevant field experience, experience teaching in higher education and scholarly productivity.  For Assistant Professor rank, the degree must be in hand by the start date.

Expectations: Faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and departmental, college, university, program, and professional service activities. Specific teaching assignment is dependent upon expertise and programmatic needs. The ability to advise, mentor, oversee capstone and thesis projects expected.     Collegiality, the ability to collaborate, and community-based participatory research are highly valued.

The University: LSU Shreveport was established in 1967 and is an institution within the Louisiana State University System.  The attractive campus is located in the metropolitan center of Northwest Louisiana with a population of more than 360,000 and has a growing enrollment in the urban community.  LSUS offers comprehensive graduate and undergraduate programs to students in the multi-state area.  The department offers a B.S in Public Health and the MPH degree program in collaboration with the LSU Health in Shreveport. The LSU Health in Shreveport includes Schools of Medicine, Graduate Studies and Allied Health Professions. The School of Allied Health Professions encompasses the programs of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Cardio-Pulmonary Science, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Physician Assistant and Masters of Public Health.  Campuses are a reasonable distance a part (i.e., 20 minutes). This progressive collaborative program has established solid partnerships in the community striving to meet the needs and improve health within the region.

Salary: Commensurate with experience, and education.
