Overview

McMurry University seeks to fill two tenure-seeking faculty lines in the new Human Wellness and Health Sciences Division. The newly formed division consists of three departments, Human Health Science, Kinesiology, and Psychology. The division was formed to encourage new collaborations and to stimulate innovative programmatic, curricular, and research initiatives encompassing contemporary issues related to human health and wellness.

We seek two experienced faculty members to complement our current faculty disciplinary strengths and research interests to add breadth and depth within Human Health Science and Kinesiology.

Most importantly, we seek individuals with broad training and experience who embrace an interdisciplinary approach to their teaching and scholarship. We seek individuals who can demonstrate creativity, innovation, flexibility, and adaptability in research, curriculum development and in employing a variety of instructional modes. We are looking for faculty members who create exceptional educational opportunities for our students through engaging classroom experiences and by mentoring student research and scholarship outside the classroom.

We seek individuals who have an understanding of the unique educational needs of diverse populations and a demonstrated passion for serving students from underrepresented populations and from first generation and low income families. Accordingly, we place a very high priority on hiring faculty with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community with a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and issues of social justice and who will passionately support the University’s commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution.

Disciplinary strengths in Human Health Science include, but are not limited to, epidemiology, immunology, public health informatics, public health policy and management, and global health.

Disciplinary strengths in Kinesiology include, but are not limited to, exercise physiology, athletics training, physical education, nutrition, therapeutic and rehabilitation science, and sport and fitness administration and management.
