Purpose of Position

Why does the job exist?
This position will coordinate statewide Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) public health surveillance activities.
How does it get done?
This position will manage all aspects of day-to-day HIV surveillance operations, including conducting case investigations, reviewing, and entering electronic and paper laboratory result data, and assuring HIV reporting from laboratories and healthcare providers. This position will perform data analysis and produce HIV surveillance reports and epidemiology analyses for NMDOH and in coordination with HIV prevention services. Incumbent will be responsible for data quality assurance.
Who are the customers?
People living with HIV infection in New Mexico, the NM Department of Health and other state and local agencies, HIV prevention and treatment providers and grantor Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:

– Two or more years of postgraduate experience in data collection, data management, and data analysis, with experience using SAS.
– Experience geocoding address level information and using geographic information system (GIS) to analyze and visually display data.
– Experience writing epidemiologic reports and presenting results of data analyses to community members and HIV partner organizations.
