Purpose of Position

Why does the job exist?
The positions goal is to reduce the incidence and severity of alcohol and injury in New Mexico.
How does it get done?
The incumbent conducts complex public health surveillance of alcohol misuse and its health consequences to support efforts to reduce alcohol injury in New Mexico. The incumbent collaborates with the CDC alcohol program, and other state-based alcohol epidemiologists, and participates in the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists alcohol committee. The position also provides support to community health programs, health councils, and regional public health staff.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:

An understanding of and experience working in the field of substance use disorders;
Experience conducting active surveillance;
Experience with data analysis and matching programs, SAS preferred;
Experience with presenting public health data to stakeholders.

Minimum Qualification
Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Statistics and two (2) years in Public Health to include data analysis and linking methodology. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.
