Purpose of Position

Why does the job exist?
The position supports the Overdose Prevention Section and project partners in establishing and maintaining initiatives to reduce drug overdoses and overdose deaths in New Mexico. This position manages federal grant applications, provides administrative and technical oversight of federal grant awards, and ensures the timely and accurate completion of periodic progress reports and annual budgets. This position helps draft and monitor contracts and supervises two or more program coordinators.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and at least six (6) years of experience in program management including federal grant management and staff supervision.  Experience working with  state and federal agencies, academic institutions, and health systems while providing direction and supervision to multiple project staff.  Flexible, able to work in harmony with a fast-paced team and adjust to changing program needs. Experience with fulfilling federal grant reporting requirements, including complex budgets, and managing contracts and MOAs through state agency processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, expert in MS Office suite, especially Excel for accounting and finance. Familiarity with drug overdose prevention work in New Mexico or elsewhere preferred.

Minimum Qualification
A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below. A hiring agency will designate that a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
