Overview

Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for the production of data files, including linked files, for surveillance and epidemiological activities produced by the Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics.  Incumbent will provide data and technical assistance within and outside of NMDOH, including the evaluation and processing of data requests on an ongoing basis.  Incumbent will also participate in special studies, work on Epidemiology reports and briefs, participate in the production of an annual Epidemiology reports, studies, and health status slides.  This position is also responsible for uploading out-of-state birth, death, and roster records into the Vital Records database on a bi-weekly basis, provide monthly and annual data to the Maternal Mortality Review Committee and the PRAMS program, and contribute to the daily COVID mortality reporting.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with SAS programing, tabulating and analyzing complex datasets, experience performing data linkages between administrative datasets, and performing data quality assurance checks.  Also, the ideal candidate will have attention to detail, desire to work with birth and death data, extensive customer service experience, and ability to work in high-demand and stressful situations.

Minimum Qualification
Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Science, Social Sciences or Statistics.
