The R&D Life Sciences (LS) team is uniquely positioned to define and drive R&D’s contribution to PepsiCo’s long-term profitable and sustainable growth agenda and further establishing PepsiCo’s foundation in life sciences.

The Associate Principal Scientist position in Epidemiology will play an important role in expanding the epidemiology function within PepsiCo. The incumbent will be expected to provide credible interpretation of epidemiological data and trends to inform the LS agenda.

Additional responsibilities include:

Providing consultation on epidemiologic study design and implementation, conducting analyses, and authoring peer-reviewed publications
Serving as epidemiology subject matter expert on cross-functional teams developing science-based materials to inform external policy initiatives and healthcare professionals’ education
Using and triangulating data from both population-based surveys and consumer market research to identify trends and patterns that can support the product development pipeline
Representing PepsiCo & PepsiCo R&D in external business, scientific, and regulatory venues
Establishing internal analytic linkages and infrastructure (in concert with existing corporate Stats/data management groups as needed) to support the depth and breadth of PepsiCo’s LS division
Acting as spokesperson and advocate for PepsiCo brands with external stakeholders/NGOs

Qualifications / Requirements :
PhD or equivalent in Epidemiology or related field such as Biostatistics, Nutrition, and 1-3 years post-doctoral or relevant industry experience OR MS/MPH in Epidemiology or related field and 7-10 years relevant experience (e.g., academics, government, NGO, industry)
Established publication track record in epidemiology, nutrition science, public health, etc.
Strong working knowledge of applied statistics and biostatistics including power/sample size calculations, linear regression/ANOVA, logistic regression, Generalized Linear Models, survival analysis, mixed models, Generalized Estimating Equations, etc.
Advanced to expert knowledge in at least one statistical software package, such as Stata, SAS, or R
Experience managing and constructing analytic data files from complex databases

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working as part of a cross-functional team and highly matrixed environment
Knowledge in the domains of personalized nutrition, microbiome/gut health, immune health, or healthy aging is a plus.
Experience working with and analyzing dietary survey data from around the world, including NHANES (US), NDNS (UK), ENSANUT (Mexico), INCA (France), PoF (Brazil), CHNS (China), DHS, etc.
Experience working with or collaborating with CPG companies or trade organizations
Prior experience working with Tableau, Plotly, R Shiny or other interactive web-based applications/dashboarding tools
Experience leading or serving as key personnel on meta-analyses and systematic reviews
