PHS Sexual and Reproductive Health Centers, located in the neighborhoods of Fort Greene and Brownsville, have provided affordable, comprehensive, and confidential reproductive and sexual healthcare to the community for over 55 years. We offer a complete range of services, including free walk-in pregnancy testing, gynecological exams, prenatal care, birth control, medication abortion, Plan B, “teen-friendly” sexual healthcare, STI testing and treatment, HIV testing and counseling, mental health services, and health education.

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Fort Greene location to perform nursing functions. The Licensed Practical Nurse will report to the PHS Center Director (CD) and performs delegated tasks in the care of routine prenatal and family planning patients and assist with the treatment of all patients.

Specifically, the Licensed Practical Nurse will:

Demonstrates expertise in assisting with the medical care of prenatal, family planning, and gynecological (gyn) patients.
Provides patient education, support and reassurance to the patient and facilitates communication between the patient and provider.
Administers prescribed medications and imparts to the patient any necessary information regarding the medication.
Informs appropriate center staff of prescribed medical regimen to ensure clinically competent care.
Counsels and instructs routine prenatal and family planning patients.
Documents in the patient’s record and reports to appropriate professional personnel any information pertinent to the care of the patient.
Reviews patients’ records prior to and following the medical examination to ensure that the medical and nursing regimen have been implemented appropriately.
Performs duties as delegated by the CD to meet the day‑to‑day requirements of the patients and of the service.
Participates in the QI process and meetings as a team member providing patient care information and f/u.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Possession of a current and valid New York State license as a practical nurse.
Previous experience in ambulatory care Ob-Gyn services preferred.
Demonstrated ability in performance as a Licensed Practical Nurse, as evidenced through work references from previous employers.
