Since January 2020, DOHMH has been fighting the COVID-19 pandemic- activities include but are not limited to: surveillance & epidemiological investigations; lab testing; engaging and providing guidance to healthcare partners; ensuring the safety & health of responders; providing timely and accurate information to the public; promoting the emotional health of New Yorkers and coordinating citywide COVID-19 vaccine administration. With grant funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DOHMH is undertaking a new initiative to establish, expand, train, and sustain the public health workforce to support jurisdictional COVID-19 prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives over 2 years.
The selected candidate will be an employee of Public Health Solutions, a nonprofit organization which is the fiscal and administrative manager of the grant, but work will be supervised by DOHMH. This is a grant-funded position ending June 30, 2023.
NYC DOHMH’s Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response (OEPR) was created to promote DOHMH’s and NYC’s ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from health emergencies. OEPR coordinates agency- and healthcare system-wide emergency planning, exercises and training, evaluation, information sharing, operations and logistics and coordination with healthcare partners, community stakeholders, City, State & Federal partners. OEPR’s work focuses on promoting and protecting public health through emergency preparedness and response; and recognizes that social inequities negatively impact our efforts to maintain and improve the health of NYC during and after a disaster. With these inequities in mind, OEPR is also working to improve its application of a social justice and racial equity lens to its emergency preparedness and response work. OEPR’s efforts to combat the harmful effects of systemic injustices on communities focuses on working towards the most equitable post-disaster public health outcomes possible.
The Office of Citywide Procurement (OCP) is the centralized procurement line of service within DCAS that obtains goods, construction, and other services on an agency level and on behalf of other agencies citywide. OCP is responsible for contract management, quality assurance, and supply chain management. Our goal is to efficiently provide high quality, cost-effective goods and services and high levels of customer service while maintaining the public trust and ensuring that all products and services support the City’s environmental and social goals. To-date, the DCAS CSH has delivered over $450 million worth of COVID-19 items through over 13,000 individual deliveries to congregate care settings,
The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks to hire a Stock Maintainer within the Office of Citywide Procurement (OCP), Logistics unit, specifically assigned to assisting NYC agency PPE and testing kit needs DCAS Logistics/Central Storehouse (CSH) inventories safety, janitorial, paper, oil & lubricants as well as COVID-19 emergency response commodities for distribution to City agencies. The Storehouse offers consolidated logistical services and delivers goods to more than 1,600 agency locations. CSH plays a critical role in the agency’s emergency response as well as provides logistical services that are effective, economical, efficient, and environmentally friendly and continually strives to identify methods to better service and support City agencies. City offices and non-profits serving COVID-positive individuals. The prospective candidate will be responsible for performing common laboring work requiring physical strength such as picking supplies and packing, unpacking, weighing, and measuring materials, supplies, and equipment.
Specifically, the Covid-19 Stock Maintainer will:
Operate electrical transports and lift trucks.
Organize and maintain the storage facilities and COVID-19 materials, such as PPE, testing kits, VTM, and hand sanitizer.
Upkeep stock and maintain expiration dates, safety data sheets and other records of COVID inventory.
Retain records and assist with the preparation of inventories as it relates to PPE stored within DCAS’ warehouses.
Pack, unpack, count, weigh and measure materials, supplies and equipment.
Load and unload merchandise at the storehouse, and at the point of pick-up, delivery, and/or distribution.
May conduct pick-ups, deliveries and/or distribution for CBOs and other organizations that are designated by the city to aid in pandemic response.
Compare materials received against invoices to records signs of damage and discrepancies in quantity.
Pick supplies from shelves to fill requisitions, lifting and carrying supplies when necessary.
There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position.
Must be able to perform the physical tasks of the job.
Capacity and willingness to learn how to use current Warehouse Management System, how to load and unload pallets via the use of transporters and forklifts.
The ideal candidate for this position must be a pro-active and self-motivated individual with the ability to work in teams and in a highly dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and timelines.
This is a temporary grant-funded position ending June 30, 2023.
This individual must reside in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) by their confirmed start date.
Preference may be given to individuals residing in New York City (5 boroughs) or surrounding New York State counties.
This individual will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies.
