Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Deputy Director for the Department of Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School. Under direction, the Deputy Director serves as the chief management and operations officer for the TB- RePORT International Coordinating Center. Actively participates in strategic planning, formulating policy, implementation and providing direction and leadership. Develops and implements program plans and objectives and in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and leadership Team, evaluates program activities. Is responsible for the financial and operational integrity of the grant program through the stewardship of TBRICC and NIH resources, the implementation of appropriate budget control, business planning and program/practice development strategies. Represents the TB- RICC leadership group in various institutional, sponsor and international forums including the New Jersey Medical School and the University at large.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
As the principal management officer, shares with the Principal Investigator and TB-RICC leadership Team the administration and scientific management responsibility by participating in all matters of policy formulation and interpretation; establishment of program plans and objectives, allocation and/or shift of personnel, funding and other resources; monitoring of projects and programs, program and personnel evaluation; and the ongoing responsibilities
for program management, direction and leadership.
The incumbent shares with the Principal Investigator and TB-RICC leadership Team in providing program leadership in the overall administration and management of varied and complex functions of the Institute.
Serves as Institute contact with departments; the Dean’s Office of Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and the NIH. Serves as contact point with top management officials in private industry concerning Institute related information.
Actively participates with the Principal Investigator and TB-RICC leadership Team in strategic planning, monitoring progress and evaluation of the implementation of plans.
Establishes guidelines, procedures, and the managerial framework to monitor and advance programs and strategic plan objectives.
Has primary responsibility for making decisions regarding the optimum allocation of TB-RICC resources (funds, personnel, equipment, and space) to accomplish the Institute’s mission.
