The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Lead Planning Analyst. This position will work within the DPH Public Health Systems and Equity office.  This position is conveniently located in Hartford with a 40 hour work schedule of Monday through Friday. There is some opportunity for a partial telework schedule (up to 50% of scheduled hours) based on agency needs. Please Note: This position is grant funded with an anticipated end date of May 31, 2023, and is likely to be extended for an additional year.

The Lead Planning Analyst will participate in the implementation of the Public Health Workforce Crisis Cooperative Agreement grant. This position will advance the DPH workforce development program in cooperation with the Department’s Human Resources, Emergency Preparedness, and other divisions. This position requires program development skills and the ability to cooperate across divisions and programs. The Lead Planning Analyst will assess needs and propose strategies to establish a program within the context of needs triggered by COVID-19 and with a long view toward strengthening and retaining a strong workforce within DPH. This position will contribute to developing mechanisms for monitoring program performance and will conduct program evaluation analyses. The Lead Planning Analyst will also coordinate program activities with four large workforce development projects conducted by external contractors.

 

The DPH received the Public Health Workforce Crisis Cooperative Agreement grant to address a public health workforce crisis most apparent during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Department is working with state partners to advance several initiatives to support training and continuous education in the public health field. These include training volunteers, exposing high school and early college students to the field of public health, creating summer enrichment programs, and providing tuition subsidies and scholarships for graduate studies in public health. The Department is also creating internships and professional development opportunities for staff working at the agency and partner organizations.
