Non-tenure Assistant Professor of Instruction
Department of Epidemiology, Human Genetics, and Environmental Sciences
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health is currently accepting applications to fill 3 full-time, 12-month non-tenure track teaching faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor of Instruction. These positions are located at the UTHealth School of Public Health Houston campus. Candidates will be expected to teach 5-6 courses per year with at least 4 of those in either epidemiology methods (e.g., Introduction to Epidemiology or Field Research Methods in Epidemiology) and/or environmental sciences (e.g., Public Health Ecology & the Human Environment) core courses. Candidates will also be expected to participate in curriculum planning activities. This appointment has the potential of promotion to the level of Associate Professor of Instruction.
Position Qualifications: A PhD or DrPH degree in epidemiology, environmental sciences, health education, or related disciplines is required. The candidate must have a strong interest in academic instruction as a career path, enthusiasm to work with students, and provide evidence of teaching excellence with good communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates who wish to focus their careers on the development and practicing of innovative teaching strategies and novel pedagogic technologies. A teaching statement, including details on previous teaching experience, is required for application consideration.
The UTHealth School of Public Health Department of Epidemiology, Human Genetics, and Environmental Sciences has a 40+ year history at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and is committed to excellence in research, education and collaboration services in epidemiology and environmental science. The department currently has approximately 60 full-time faculty members and over 485 students (MPH, MS, and PhD) across six campuses in Texas (Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio).
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
