Overview

This position will support the research program of Edmond Ramly, PhD in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. The research specialist will assist Dr. Ramly with research support activities in all areas. Dr. Ramly’s research aims to reduce practice disparities that translate into health disparities for patients with or at risk for chronic conditions (e.g. cardiovascular disease), and more broadly to reduce the translational gap between clinical evidence and clinical practice. His multidisciplinary research program includes projects to develop and test clinical/health systems interventions using implementation science, human factors engineering, and user-centered design, supported by mixed-methods integration of quantitative (e.g. electronic medical record and survey data) and qualitative research techniques (e.g. focus groups, stakeholder engagement, participatory co-design, direct observation, and surveys). The successful candidate for this position will serve as the primary coordinator for Dr. Ramly’s research team and will work regularly with trainees and colleagues from both the UW Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and the UW Health Innovation Program (HIP).

Responsibilities:

Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.

  • 20% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • 20% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • 20% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • 20% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
  • 20% Performs literature reviews and writes reports
