Overview
UTHealth Houston School of Public Health invites applications fora full-time non-tenure track teaching and administrative faculty member to serve as Program Director for Healthcare Management and Policy (HCMP) within the department of Management, Policy and Community Health (MPACH). The successful candidate will teach the MPACH core course and appropriate HCMP courses, as well as advise students and coordinate the program’s masters and doctoral students.
It is expected that this position would provide teaching coverage for department-wide capstone courses taught online and face-to-face along with the MPACH core course. In addition, this position would be responsible for overseeing both the HCMP MPH and PhD programs including ensuring that the curriculum provides students with opportunities to develop the skills necessary to excel as a health care manager and leader. It also involves identifying tenure track faculty and recruiting part-time faculty who can teach the required courses effectively. The program director will also manage the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) accreditation process and lead efforts to enhance the program’s standing among accredited programs. The program director will work with the School of Public Health admissions staff to manage the admissions process for HCMP master and PhD programs and with Office of Practice staff to help place students in practicums and full-time positions. The program director will lead ongoing efforts to raise the visibility of the School of Public Health HCMP face-to-face and online programs within the health care professional community by attending ACHE and AUPHA meetings, interacting with local, state, and national health care institutions, and exploring opportunities for collaborating with other campuses as well as dual degree programs with other entities.

The ideal candidate is required to show clear signs that she/he/they will:
Have a doctorate or the equivalent professional degree in a discipline related to health administration. The position is open to a diverse range of disciplines including but not limited to health administration, health policy, health services and management/leadership.
Demonstrate excellence in teaching, with knowledge of inclusive and active teaching practices, as well as being facile in competency-based teaching and assessment.
Have experience teaching face-to-face, virtual, and online; experience with experiential learning; ability and willingness to teach at off-campus sites as needed
Involved in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Work experience within the past 10 years in health care administration or a related field preferred.
