The WORLD Policy Analysis Center (WORLD) is the largest quantitative policy center capturing data on government action to advance social, economic, and environmental wellbeing for all United Nations (UN) member countries.

Under the leadership of Dr. Jody Heymann, WORLD is committed to making its broad, globally comparative findings publicly accessible to inform and encourage improvements in legal and policy frameworks worldwide, allow nations to learn from the approaches taken in other countries, facilitate studies of the feasibility and effectiveness of laws and policies in critical areas, and supports global and local civil society in their efforts to hold decision-makers accountable. WORLD is committed to making a lasting difference on the ground through interactions among researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders invested in translating evidence into practice.

WORLD is currently looking to hire a Program Analyst to provide program analysis and support and project administration for WORLD and our Center Director. The incumbent will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following: contributing to project-related materials on a range of national and global social policy issues, managing progress of publications and grant deliverables across a large team, updating reports and bibliographies, office administration, managing the Director’s and teams travel, and outreach.

The incumbent works with the Center’s Director and Research Manager to meet programmatic objectives, provide guidance on UC policies and procedures where appropriate and work collaboratively and communicate effectively with staff, students, and UCLA, national and global partners.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education of and experience is required.
• Two years of experience in administrative analysis or operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, thoughtful, and intellectually curious; willing to immerse self in new policy areas and able to work flexibly on a range of assignments and prioritize a variety of evolving tasks.
• Ability to use good judgment and independent/critical thinking to make informed decisions and carry out action plans.
• Ability to proactively and independently solve problems and to seek out the necessary information to do so.
• Demonstrated skills in writing concise, logical and accurate memos, letters, reports and other documents.
• Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications including MSWord, Excel, Outlook, with working knowledge of database programs (e.g. Access). Proficient computer skills to effectively perform job responsibilities in an online, web-based environment. Ability to learn new software applications as needed.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to create a productive and efficient work environment.
• Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and appropriately.
• Experience working in a diverse setting and in multicultural environments preferred.
