Overview
Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR)/Bureau for Public Health (BPH)/Office of Epidemiology & Prevention Services (OEPS)/Harrison Co.-The employee in this position will, under limited supervision, perform complex administrative and professional work at the advanced level managing a team of Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) located throughout the northern and eastern panhandles and northern part of the state. Responsibilities include field activity for respective areas, assisting in caseload assignment in open regions, field monitoring, new employee training, planning and policy development, HIV testing events, collaborating with the Ryan White Program staff, case management and case assistance, contacting out of jurisdiction contacts for case assignment, evaluating work performance, coaching and development, and ensuring that all cases are handled in a confidential manner. In addition, the DIS Supervisor must maintain contact with several stakeholders throughout the state to improve case reporting, provide technical assistance, obtain information on infected clients, and provide information for referrals. Statewide travel is required. (Monongalia, Preston, Marion, Harrison, Taylor, Barbour, Tucker, Randolph, Upshur, Webster, Braxton, Lewis, and Gilmer.) Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: Experience as described below may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required training.
Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience as an investigator in a STD/HIV control program, nursing, or social services and/or public health case management and case investigation.Substitution: Master’s degree in public health may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
Special Requirement: A valid driver’s license and the availability of an automobile is required. A Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) certificate for laboratory testing may be required.
